Privacy policy — nothing leaves your iPhone

The short version

• Your photos and their analysis stay on your iPhone. We do not upload them or keep a copy.
• There are no accounts and no in-app analytics, ads, or tracking. We do not ask for your email, password, or an advertising identifier.
• You stay in control. You can revoke permissions in iPhone Settings and erase WrappedMe’s local data from your profile whenever you want.
• The website is separate. It uses Vercel Web Analytics for anonymous page-visit measurement only; it never receives your photos or app data.

100% on-device processing

WrappedMe analyzes your photo library directly on your iPhone using Apple's Vision, Apple Intelligence, and Natural Language frameworks. Your photos are never uploaded to a server — ours or anyone else's — and we don't operate any backend that could receive them.

Website analytics

This website uses Vercel Web Analytics to measure anonymous visits and page views. It does not use cookies or collect analytics from the WrappedMe iOS app. Vercel processes this aggregate website data to provide us with traffic insights; it does not include your photos or the on-device data generated by the app.

What data gets generated

From your photos we generate aggregated statistics (counts, categories, dates), text recognized in your screenshots (OCR), face signals to group people, place names from your photos' GPS coordinates, and descriptive text with Apple Intelligence. All of that output is stored only on your device, and you can delete it completely at any time — see "Data retention and deletion" below.

The network requests the app does make

We say "on-device processing," not "no network access ever" — here's the honest, specific difference, because we'd rather be precise than technically true but misleading:

• Place names use Apple's Maps service. To turn the GPS coordinates already embedded in your photos into a place name (e.g. "Lisbon" instead of coordinates), the app sends those coordinates — never a photo — to Apple's reverse-geocoding service. Results are cached on your device, so the same place is only looked up once.
• iCloud Photos may need to download an original. If a photo lives only in iCloud Photos (not fully downloaded to your device, which happens when "Optimize iPhone Storage" is on), Apple's Photos framework downloads that original from your own iCloud account before the app can analyze it. That's a download from storage you already own and pay for, on Apple's infrastructure — not an upload to us or to anyone else, and the analysis itself still happens entirely on your device.

Outside of those two Apple-platform calls, the WrappedMe iOS app includes no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no tracking of any kind — there's nothing to opt out of via App Tracking Transparency because we don't request it. The anonymous website analytics described above are separate from the app.

Permissions

We ask for the following, and each is optional except the first:

• Photo library (full access): required — it's the app's core purpose. Partial ("select photos") access can't produce library-wide stats like active days or category breakdowns, which need to see the whole library, not a sample of it.
• Add photos: to save the images and videos your Wrapped generates back into your camera roll, only when you choose to save or share one.
• Face ID: optional, on by default. Locks the app after it's been in the background for a while. Face ID authentication is handled entirely by iOS — WrappedMe never receives your face data, only a yes/no result.
• Notifications: optional, to let you know when your Wrapped is ready or on the anniversary of a Special Day.

You can revoke any of these at any time from system Settings, without losing access to the app or your existing data.

No accounts, so there's nothing to delete on our end

WrappedMe doesn't require or offer account creation. We don't ask for an email, password, or any personal identifier to use the app. Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID through the App Store, like any App Store purchase, and restores on any device with "Restore purchase." Because there's no account, there's no server-side profile to delete — everything the app holds about you lives on your device, covered below.

What we do not collect

• No copy of your photo library or the analysis generated from it.
• No account profile, email address, password, or social login.
• No in-app analytics, advertising SDK, advertising identifier, or cross-app tracking.

Data retention and deletion

All data the analysis generates lives exclusively in your iPhone's local storage, including the container shared with our widgets. There is no copy on any server of ours. You can delete everything — Summary, Insights, Special Days, the local analysis of your photos, and your widget data — anytime from your profile with "Delete my data," with no need to contact us. Uninstalling the app deletes all of its local content the same way. Full step-by-step details are on our data deletion page.

Children's privacy

WrappedMe isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or the minimum age required by your local law). If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll address it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves — most often when a new feature changes what data we process or which frameworks we use. We'll update the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you in-app.
